As such, we may use your personal details to send you relevant information and offers about our services and opportunities by email. The Student Energy Project, referred to as “us” or “we” is a project within the parent company of amber energy.

We are a “data controller” and “data processor”. This means that we are responsible for deciding how we hold and use personal information about you as the Data Subject, referred to as “you”, “your”, and how we disclose or destroy your information. 

This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you when you use this website.

In carrying out our day-to-day activities, we process and store personal information, adhering to the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018. 

What information do we collect about you? 

We collect personal data that can be used to identify you and create your personal profile. It includes your:

Email Address, 

Residence,

Energy Consumption.

We would only collect sensitive personal data about our students if there is a clear reason to do so. For example: we may collect sensitive information about lifestyles that can affect engagement with the project. 

We collect information about you when you register on our website. We also collect information when you voluntarily interact with our social media pages including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We will also collect information when you voluntarily complete student surveys and enter competitions. 

How we will use the information about you? 

We collect information about you to process your order, manage your account and, if you agree, to email you about other services and opportunities we think may be of interest to you. 

We use your information collected from the website to personalise your profile and record your energy saved, using the information you included about your residence. 

How long will we keep your data?

Personal data we hold, including your student profiles, will be kept during the academic year you register at The Student Energy Project. 

We keep this data to enable us to respond to queries/ concerns about your experience at The Student Energy Project, and to accurately calculate your energy consumption. 

We continually review what information we hold and delete what is no longer required.

Marketing

We would like to send you information about our services which may be of interest to you. If you have consented to receive marketing, you may opt out at a later date by unsubscribing in the email you have received. You may also contact us at info@studentenergyproject.com to opt out.

You have a right at any time to stop us from contacting you for marketing purposes. You will clearly see a statement included in all marketing material, should you wish to no longer be contacted for marketing purposes. 

Access to your information and correction

You have a right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. if you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email info@studentenergyproject.com . 

We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You have the right to ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.

Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information. This information is used to track visitor use of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity.

If you are a TSEP Rep or volunteer, then we may collect extra information about you (e.g. references, course topic). This information will be used to help us run the rep/volunteer opportunity and will be retained for legal reasons.
